Stable Lead Isotopic Ratios as Indicator of Urban Geochemical Processes

چکیده
Abstract The study is aimed to apply the Pb isotope fingerprinting technique for tracing pollution of urban surface deposited sediment (USDS). USDS reflect changes in geochemical conditions occurring environment. samples were collected residential areas with multistory buildings Russian cities: Magnitogorsk, Nizhny Tagil, Tyumen, Ufa, and Chelyabinsk. Elements concentrations stable isotopic ratios measured samples. reconstruction initial baseline (IGB) relationship between potentially harmful element (PHE) conservative lithogenic (CE) Fe was carried out sample populations cities. IGB divided into groups ‘polluted’ ‘unpolluted’ Analysis elements showed different trends altering metals surveyed characterized by a decrease 206Pb/204Pb 208Pb/204Pb as result soil vehicles during period using leaded gasoline.

Stable isotope ratios as a tool in microbial forensics--Part 1. Microbial isotopic composition as a function of growth medium.
The stable isotope ratios of a seized pathogen culture could potentially reveal information about the environment in which the agent was produced. In this paper we describe general relationships between stable isotopes of carbon, nitrogen, and hydrogen in bacteriological culture media and spores of Bacillus subtilis, an endospore-forming soil bacterium. In numerous media that varied both in nut...
متن کاملChildhood lead exposure in an industrial town in China: coupling stable isotope ratios with bioaccessible lead.
Fingerprinting based on stable isotopes of lead (Pb) in blood and environmental media helps to identify Pb exposure pathways in children. However, previous studies used stable isotopes of total Pb in media. In this study, a wire rope production town in China (Zhuhang) was selected for investigating the effectiveness of using isotope ratios in bioaccessible Pb to identify childhood Pb exposure p...
متن کاملImpact of historical mining assessed in soils by kinetic extraction and lead isotopic ratios.
The aim of this study is to estimate the long-term behaviour of trace metals, in two soils differently impacted by past mining. Topsoils from two 1 km(2) zones in the forested Morvan massif (France) were sampled to assess the spatial distribution of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn. The first zone had been contaminated by historical mining. As expected, it exhibits higher trace-metal levels and greater spatia...

Abundances of heavy metals and lead isotopic ratios in subluminous B stars Abstract. We present a detailed abundance analysis of high-resolution ultraviolet echelle spectra of five subdwarf B stars obtained with HST-STIS The goal of our observations was to test the hypothesis that pulsations in sdBs are correlated to the surface abundances of iron-group elements. We study two pulsators and thre...

The method of air pollution level evaluation of urban landscapes on the basis of D. melanogaster cohort analysis has been suggested. The method implies the binding to the landscape areas of the city. Within each landscape area traps and cultivators for D. melanogaster have been installed in sanitary-protective zones of various enterprises as well as on the background territory with the least le...
